On Your Mark, Get Set...

In attempt to make sure I'm reflecting on this amazing season of life and actually recording it, I want to start a blog.  Hopefully this will be a great way to also keep family and friends included on this incredible adventure we're about to embark on.  I'll wait to see how many postings I can get, before I let people know it's up and running.  My heart wants to journal more, keep incredibly detailed baby books, and make extravagant Creative Memories scrapbooks of every moment of our lives, but this is just not my gifting - and I hope a blog will be simple enough to maintain...

Well we are five days from Jason's departure to NZ. He's cleared to travel despite the absence of his official passport.  I've dreaded this day for a long time, but in the busyness of it all, I don't think it will really hit me until June.  In an odd way, God has made it easier because Jason is horribly suffering from pollen allergies this week and I'm thankful he'll be able to get out of here and not be so miserable.  Life is SPRINGING forth in Virginia -- beautiful trees and flowers and my poor husband just sees it as the source of his misery.  Anyway...

I'm truly excited for this move.  A part of me wants to jump on the plane with Jason on Sunday.  At the same time I am really thankful for the summer to get on my feet before moving to an isolated island in the middle of the pacific. :)    Today I was reminded that this move will thrust me into the land of stay-at-home-mommyhood much more than has been the case in Virginia.  Case in point, Jason is taking an Asian studies orientation course with the Foreign Service Institute this week and last.  Meanwhile I spent most of this morning (and yesterday morning) cheering/coaxing/coercing a 2.5 year old to poop on the potty.   I've joked that Jason may see this move as opporunities to travel throughout Antarctica and the South Pacific whereas I see breast feeding, home schooling a preschooler and potty training.   I wouldn't trade a second of this life for all the money in the world -- I love being at home with the boys!  But... things are going to be different in NZ.

Speaking of pooping in the potty -- I found the ABSOLUTE BEST product for a reluctant pooper.  Thank you Pedia-Lax Fiber Gummies!!!!  http://www.pedia-lax.com/products/fiber-gummies  .  Charlie begs me to take them and then is unable to resist making a poop in the potty.  Potty training was quick and easy and he was dry and in undies befor two.  Pooping on the other hand...  He's always been a sleeping-pooper, when his booty muscles are nice and relaxed and potty pumping has been very dramatic.  That being said - I'm hopeful!
