Here is a video that gives you a feel for the game (unfortunately I didn't catch a goal):
Here we are cheering on daddy/husband:
This leads me to the question du jour. Do we sign up Charlie for the 3&Under Little Dribblers Football Club in Wellington??? If you can believe it there is actually an Under 2 team. I think that would be hilariously painful to watch.... :) When I was pregnant with Charlie, we decided that we wanted to expose him to soccer (Jason's influence) and swimming (my influence) as a young kid. Is 3 years old too young for a soccer team? Would it be good for his social and gross motor skills or will we go crazy watching him pick grass and "make salads" with the dandelions (most recent passion)? It is only 10 Saturdays, and although we will miss a few weekends, we are largely home.... Thoughts?

Do it...think of all the photo opportunities! Will he get a Little Dribblers jersey?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily. At least you will get a feel for Charlie's interest and it should help with his large motor skills development. I think you will love learning the game better, Katie. I remember Jason kicking a soccer ball when he was 5 or 6 and then when he got to Brent he began to play intramurals. I think I told you about the first goal Jason scored in the gym and I was on the second row of the bleachers. He jumped into my arms for a big hug. I loved it!! Jason will also enjoy that Father son time with Charlie. I think it is good for Charlie to watch Jason play and to see other families cheering dads on. Wow, I wish I could be there with you all? :)Even if Charlies wanders off to pick the flowers, that is ok. I saw Michael Abraham do that when he was 5, but he is still enjoying the game and learning and improving.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh sign him up!!!!! I am all giddy just thinking of how cute he will be out there!
ReplyDeleteSign him up! It'll be good for all of you.
ReplyDeleteUpdate - we signed up but the first game was rained out. Thanks for the encouragement!
